Looks like a lower case "i" in shilling?
That's a detail I had not spotted myself. But there is something much more obvious. Take a look at the perfin.
It looks like a private perfin.

The Queen is different, especially the diadem (crown).
Nice big margins - would be beyond rare for this issue
The stamp has been superimposed on another back
Typical stamp from web site
Here is what I think: In my opinion, the stamp on the right is a weird forgery. It is elaborate and crude at the same time. I pointed to the perfin, because as a matter of fact it is no perfin. When I look at the back of the stamp, there are no holes to be seen. The whole thing seems to be a photocopy of a perfin stamp on a white background. I am no expert on paper, but this looks like modern, bleached paper. And somehow the maker had a lot of work perfing the stamp. One can even see the original stamp's perforation that has been copied too.
You are absolutely correct, Jan-Simon;
this is a perfed copy of a perfed stamp....interesting!
Hi Jansimon
The stamp on the left could be SG108, chestnut brown, and the year date oossibly fits (yours says 73 for 1873, minted from 1871 onwards)

hi Horamakhet,
Thank you for your help. I do not have Stanley Gibbons, but at least the colour identification will undoubtedly help me find this one in my catalogues.
Yesterday I got a bunch of South Australia stamps in a trade. Among them were these two. I have not yet identified them as Scott is not very helpful. Chestnut, lake brown, red brown, deep brown? I haven't got a clue. But I do know there is something strange with the one on the right. Can you spot it too?
