Welcome aboard - something here for everyone.
Gotta ask - What coast do you watch in SE Kentucky? I don't think the bank of the Cumberland qualifies as a coast.
dollhaus....My username stems from my interest in history (I was a history major) and World War II in particular. It refers to the brave Australians who stayed behind Japanese lines in New Guinea and the British Solomon Islands and reported Japanese troop, ship and plane movements. They also helped rescue downed Allied airmen and a coastwatcher was instrumental in rescuing John F. Kennedy and the crew of the PT 109 after it was sunk. By the way, I live less than a mile from the Cumberland River.
Welcome Coastwatcher from sunny hot Fort Worth, Texas.

I am glad the Stamp for Every Country posts have been of interest and we welcome your active participation on Stamporama.
"My experiences on one of them, run by the self-descibed “Sheriff” in Australia, almost turned me against stamp collectors, though. Fortunately, I found that not all stamp forums are run by despotic megalomaniacs and soon found a home among several of them."
Coastwatcher,
Welcome from Western Kentucky!

Hello all. Although I’ve been a member for several months, I never did post an introduction. I found this forum while doing a search for information on the Smithsonian “A Stamp From Every Country” album and was led to the excellent thread by jbaxter5256.
I started stamp collecting in 1974, at age 9, and was passionate about it until high school when I discovered girls and cars and started playing baseball at school. My collection sat dormant until 2006 when I ran across a copy of Linn’s Stamp News at Barnes & Noble. I purchased it and, reading through it, it brought back a lot of fond memories. I immediately subscribed and began purchasing stamps on eBay. As I was working around 60 hours a week, I didn’t have the time, though, to devote to collecting and my collection ended up back in the closet.
I had to retire last summer due to health issues and immediately became bored and that led to depression. My therapist said that I needed to find something to occupy my time that wouldn’t be affected by my various health issues and I thought about my stamp collection. I got it back out of the closet and resubscribed to Linn’s. I also began ordering more stamps and joined several forums. My experiences on one of them, run by the self-descibed “Sheriff” in Australia, almost turned me against stamp collectors, though. Fortunately, I found that not all stamp forums are run by despotic megalomaniacs and soon found a home among several of them. I hope that I can find a home here and that my contributions are proportional to what I learn.
My collecting interests are varied. My main areas of interest are the US (including Hawaii and Canal Zone), Rhodesia, the British Virgin Islands, French Polynesia, Canada (incuding provinces), Third Reich Germany, and the British Solomon Islands. I also have an on-again, off-again intrests in the stamps of Great Britain and Iceland. Apart from my “A Stamp From Every Country” collection, I also have a general worldwide collection that I add to occasionally.
Thanks for listening and for letting me be a part of this great forum.
