I have what looks like a Mexico C189, /C220A from 1950-1952/ 1955-1965 time frame, but it is a cut square from an envelope or airmail letter. It has CORREOS MEXICO repeating on the back side. My Scott catalog soesnt list envelopes or air letters for Mexico. Can someone help me with a more accurate description and possibly year of issue?

Thanks.

re: Mexico Airmail Stamped cover cut square?

Hi Dave,

For this information you would need the "Postal Stationary of Mexico" published by the UPSS. As luck would have it I have a 2017 edition in my hands I checked out from my local philatelic library.

The year of issue is 1950, issued in violet brown. The MEPSI catalog number (which is also used by the UPSS) is AE 38. Entires have a catalog value of $10 (mint or used). A few were issued as doubled, and catalog as $80 for an entire (mint or used). This catalog does not give values for cut squares.

While other designs from this series were issued into the 1970's, this particular one was only issued in 1950.

Hope that helps,
Antonio
