I have one and it took ten years to find. I am sending it off to the Philatelic Foundation for certification.

Dave,
The US#596 is one of the rarest US stamps, one of the most misidentified US stamps, 15 are known.

Thanks Don. There's a definite difference between how folk from different countries name threads. I love to see a year or description so I dont need to scratch around to find it

Don, the rarest stamps are the most common. It is the common stamps that no one has, if you go by the claims made on so many stamp boards, and selling web sites.

usgems, please post a copy of the certificate when you get it back. If what you have is genuine, it would be nice to add this information to our site.

That copy would be the machine cancel worth about $150 000 in my 2016 Scott's US Specialized. I hope it is authenticated, it sure would be great to find something like that. I ask myself if I could afford to keep it or would I have to sell it?

I would have to sell it because there are so many other interesting things out there!
