Very nice covers!
The thread reminded me of a cover I received 15 years ago from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. It contained a fishing license. It appears to be an illustrated cover, but is actually not. Instead, the envelope is a light, clear plastic and the fish is a cardboard insert that contained a fishing license. It is one of the most unusual and cleverly done illustrated covers that I have seen. I thought this thread might be a good place to show it.

That is cool! I have never seen anything like that cover, but it is the work of a very talented commercial artist. Thanks for sharing it.

Linus, this topic reminded me of a discarded postcard that I saved:
Instantly takes me to one of my passions: wilderness canoeing and fishing. Too bad about the crease. If there ever was an interesting crease, at least this one perfectly bisects the sun and its reflection.
Lac St Jean is a large shallow lake north of the St. Lawrence River in Quebec. Apparently, Galaxie La Bonne Etoile is in Montreal...

I recently found this picture post card in an antique mall in Springfield, Missouri, USA showing a giant black sea bass caught near the Santa Catalina Islands, California, USA with a rod and reel. The postmark is July 4, 1903 from Avalon, California, USA. The writing says, "What do you think of this for size?" I say, that is one big fish!

Today I will share with the group a couple of covers from my collection showing smiling people fishing from old fishing boats from the fifties. Both boats have classic Evanrude brand boat motors. The covers are addressed to Bob Brownell and Brownell Industries, a successful Iowa businessman who started a gunsmith supply company, that is still going strong today.
