Hello Gerom,
I have translated a piece of German text of page 381 in my 2017 Michel Special Katalog :
There are a large number of plate and imprint errors for most of the inflation stamps.
A complete recording of all these errors would go beyond the scope of a special catalog.
Nevertheless, stamps with such errors are collectable.
In the Infla literature caught error justifiable surcharges mint never hinged from 5 to 10 euros and used from 10 to 20 euros.
However, testing and signing of uncataloged errors by infla verifiers are generally not carried out.
In the catalog at page 422 there is a price quotation of 7 euros for the HAN nr.
Just look at 318 A P HAN H 5887.23 / H
(You have the HAN nr and you have the stand-alone H.)
I doubt whether there is 318 A P DD (Doppel Druck).
Hi HockeyNut
Thanks for translating general information about stamps during the inflation period (page 379 from my old Michel cat.)They are three types of HAN in my catalog:
What you see, another no.23 it's missing on my stamps block.
Are the HAN changes in the new catalog?
I found that they are many constant varieties ("stampboard.com" and "worldstampsproject.org"). See Mi # 183 (3 varieties referenced in cat.Michel and 5 in my post with the field no.and cote?)
I search the title and name of this specialized book for German stamps varieties but not many collectors share this information. Why not? I think many collectors have the answer.
I contribute on "worldstampsproject.org" with 30-35 scans with my varieties and this site has a good idea for sharing the information about variety stamps.
This piece of the Michel Spezial 2017 I translated :
This is about the HAN nr of 318:
And this about number 183: Only 2nd and 3th row is nr 183 : so 2 flaws mentioned)
I am sorry for the bad scans on the edges!
My Michel Catalog 2017 is 1216 pages thick and only handles from 1849 till 1945 !!!!!!!
The paper thickness is just like cigarette-paper.
Where do you find al those flaws of these stamps?
I think i found it:
Plattenfehler Deutsches Reich 1872-1945. ISBN: 9783954022311 EUR 29,80
Nice for a Christmas gift
No, HackeyNut, the Michel Plattenfehler Catalog have not supplementary flaws.
I read with many attention the thread on "stampboards" and I found the catalog with supplementary flaws:
"Plattenfehler Katalog,Deutsches Reich,1872-1945,Verlag"

"stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=60435"

PM4 : bottom left outer corner beveled. on fields 4,9,54, 59. there are 3 types.

PM6a : Interruption of the 3rd Rosette line on the right. On fields 11,16,61,66. 3 types.
PM6b : small hachure in the top left horn is missing. there should be 4, Multiple fields.
PM8 : listed in the Michel as HT I
PM10 : Connection of the 1st and 2nd rosette line at the Bottom left. Fields 15, 29, 65, 70.
PM11 : points in the middle of the Rosette connected. fields 21,26,71,26. there are 3 types. Note the position; all other are due to too much ink.
PM12 : bottom left corner of frame is pointy and there is a small indentation in the left frame. fields 22, 27, 72,77. there are 4 types.
PM17 : Bottom left; mouthpiece of the horn is connected to the hachure beside it. fields 32,37,82,87. 3 types.
PM18 : 3 white lines instead of 4 in the hand piece of the horn, bottom right. fields 33,38,83,88.
PM19 : second and third rosette line connected by thickening line. field 34,39,84,89. 4 types.

Thank you very much for sharing these informations.Very important for me the field no.
If we know what search,we find.
With your informations I added 3 stamps on my list of varieties.
I think that in this week I select my rosete inflation stamps.
Thank you very much,again.
Opa thank you again .I found another varietie:
Hi George, A few comments to your picture of the 386a.
I. "broken postal horn". In the production of these, the finished sheets would often be stacked when the ink was not 100% dry. You will sometimes find one with a mirror image on the gum. In my opinion these are stamps which were not completely dry.
II. "Incomplete HAN" . The HAN is complete. It is read "H 5887.23/H" . The numbers correspond to the assignment number of the overprint.
III. "The print "10 000 000 M" from the left stamp is thicker". This could have several reasons. The printing of these sheets was continues, so a lot of wear on the plates. Or, the left stamp is in the 5th row. These plates were printed using a template with 25 fields. So the left stamp would be the last stamp in the template. If you look closely you might see a height difference in the left and middle stamp. maybe this is a feature of the template, or not.
IV. "Three lines in left." These are protectors. These lines come in a large number of differences : Pictures are more than I can say.
In order to say that the lines at the bottom have trademarks you would need at least 2 sheets with the same plate number, 3 are better.
" Mi # 318APDD?"
Hi Opa,
I learned so much with your completes comments.
The block is broken ,the stamp is not a variety ,but I am happy because I found with your informations another 4...and I will search tomorow for another varieties.
I was angry when I received this broken stamp block. I kept it because I noticed a number of curiosities:
1. the broken postal horn
2.Incomplete HAN
3. The print "10 000 000 M" from the left stamp is thicker.
4.Three lines in left.
Is Sc # 286a (value double) / Mi # 318APDD?
Printing error (1, 2 and 4) I did not find them referred to in Michel.
Thanks for any information.
