I've collected US for a long time and am getting a very good collection. I decided a few years ago to collect any countries that had a connection to the US - Canal Zone, Cuba, Danish West Indies (starting this area soon), Guam, Hawaii (anyone got "the missionaries cheap"?), Philippines, Puerto Rico and UN. The one area I can't seem to get an interest in is the Ryukyu Islands. I'm not sure why, but the stamps seem very boring to me. I wonder if anyone else has the same problem or if anyone out there can find a reason for me to be enthusiastic about them!

re: US protectorates

There are also the US Trust Territories (Palau, Micronesia, and Marshall Islands), Philippines, US Confederate States, United Nations - New York (mail processed by the US Postal Service), and Puerto Rico. Plus, you could add some of the Allied Occupation issues following World War II from Germany and Italy.
