I would just go ahead and ask for the invoice. When I sold on here I always felt funny invoicing for a few cents plus postage - sort of like being at a junior high dance more years ago than I care to remember but that same fear of doing something wrong,
I would then send out a message asking if they were ready for an invoice prior to sending it out, but it felt awkward. Go ahead and take the initiative.

Answering most questions "How do I" regarding buying and selling is easy, because the answers are usually in the rules.
From the Auction Rules (applies to approvals as well):
"B3. Buyers must pay for auction lots purchased within 5 business days of receipt of an invoice from the seller, unless other terms have been specifically stated by the seller in the item listing or invoice. Buyers must notify the seller regarding any delay in payment.
B4. Buyers who have not received an invoice within 5 business days of completing purchases with a seller must contact the seller to request that an invoice be sent."
Plus, the usual simplest answer to give with all of these types of questions is: "Communicate with the other person".

I guess I'm just getting a bit lazy - in almost all sales the seller sends me an invoice when the time is right for him/her. It seems that some of them wait until the end of the month or have a specific time they do invoices. That seems fair to me and I really don't want to bug them if they have a particular schedule. I will send out a few notices to sellers I bought from quite a while ago but I don't want to appear unreasonable. I know what your rules are but I think 5 days is a bit quick, these sellers are spending hours and sometimes days getting their books and auctions organized and maybe they should be given a little bit more time. But, on the other hand, I've been waiting almost two months for one person - maybe a reminder is OK!

There is no problem with more time. It just has to be communicated between buyer and seller to work it out together. The rules are there to help buyers and sellers when the two can't work it out amicably. The key word is "communication".

I have been a member since April and have bought almost 500 lots - lots of great stuff! But what has seemed to happen is that I have bought small amounts from some people and then found nothing to add to this small amount. I understand some people don't want to send out invoices for less than $1.00 but what if I don't find anything else to buy from this person for months? What is the accepted thing to do? Should I email the person and asked to be invoiced or should I leave well enough alone and wait for the person to contact me? The problem is that I collect very specific things and may not find much from a particular person and should I wait for this person to contact me. I have several sellers that I owe small amounts to but I really do want those stamps!!! Also, how often do most sellers send out invoices?
