so I thought I would put it up here in the hopes of getting
some good ideas from my fellow collectors out there - here goes!
I have been amassing WW seals and charity labels for a couple years now,
but without doing much organizing to date, other than in my head when I look for those I don't have (photographic memory comes in handy
). Christmas Seals and Easter Seals from the US and WW are not included in this group -
they are in their own separate and respective collection albums.
SO -
What way do YOU think would be the best way to organize this?
By country?
By organization? (i.e. what charity)
Or???
I am using Vario pages for the convenience of repositionability and visibility.
My initial thought was to organize by country alphabetically,
then sub-organize - again alphabetically - by charity name. If I go with this,
I'll need to find a way to separate and identify each country's page(s).
Or maybe you have better ideas....!
I would welcome any and all input! And thanks in advance!

I wonder how you would put together a list of what you have and don't have (if you didn't have such an awesome memory)?
Would you be more inclined to look them up by charity? That is what would seem most logical to me.
I don't collect these and have no idea how you are displaying them on your Vario sheets, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.... would you have labels for one charity from several countries?

I would arrange them by charity and then country as Sally suggests. Each charity would be a separate topical collection.

Although the diseases & causes are trans-national, I would think that the organizations (even the international organizations) mostly operate at the national level.
Therefor, I would think to organize the labels by country and, within each country, by cause.
However, this dishonors the cause(s), so I would suggest you organize by cause and, within each cause, by country.
Unless, of course, you have the courage to organize the whole pile by the shade of the dominant color or, getting nerdy-while-software-dependent, by the RGB distributions of the whole stamp or the percent white space score of the whole stamp.

An interesting question. My preference would be to go by topic (charity) but I can see the argument for by country. If you were going to write up the pages, then topic would be better I suspect.

outside of Christmas seals, I don't know of any charity label that operates internationally, so the country/charity divide seems moot

Those that I have are simply added o a separate page into the album of the country of origin to just add a point of interest for non-collectors.

I have a topical collection of Cardiology on Stamps. Along with the stamps I have a number of charity labels (Cinderellas) to support various "Heart Funds". Some are local (1936 Chicago Heart Association), some are national (Shopper's Drug Mart 1970s "Support the Canadian Hear Foundation").
I would suggest organising them by charity (ie. Heart Fund, Cancer, Scouting, Politica, etc) at the national-, provincial- and local- level.

I gathered my non-postage stamps & labels together this winter and made up some pages for them. Ended up with 30 pages. I used my scans of each item added to the created album pages to make a PDF sort of virtual album.
Looking at it now it goes like this:
- Started with a few pages of fiscal/revenue stamps from around the world,
- a page with a few spanish telegraph stamps
- a page with postal etiquettes and labels from around the world
- a page for world wide Christmas seals
- then several pages for charity, publicity & fundraising labels. these are from charities, stamp shows, commercial/industrial exhibitions and other things
- then some pages of bogus/unrecognized and unissued stamps. Things like "?? government in exile" or secessionist "republic of ??" types, or just plain fakes.
- a few pages of local and private issues such as Jethou, Lundy, Herm Island etc.
- a page with a few meters and European frama labels
- and to finish some Italian WW2 resistance postage and a paraphrased article about them, and some Azad Hind stamps and information about them.
I tried to put what info I could find with each stamp or group of stamps to explain their purpose or what they are.
That's what I did with them. To make a long story short: You can do with them whatever you would like to do. So long as you like it, it is right.
