JT,
What is the significance of this month/year combo for you?
acid-etched period shows plate flaws ... you should check
There is no particular significance for me in this month/year.
I have been collecting used Machins with fully dated in period cancels.
Between June 24, 1974 and March 16, 1975, the basic first class postage rate in the UK was 4 1/2p, and the basic second class postage rate was 3 1/2p. In that time frame, there are 266 days. My hope is to put together a collection with a cancel for each unique date. I happen to have, now, all the dates in the month of November, 1974 for both values, so I thought I would display them. In fact, I am now only missing 10 of the 266 dates for the 4 1/2p value, and only missing 30 for the 3 1/2p value.
I am also working on other values from 1967-1970 (pre-decimal), and 1971-1978 (decimal) for various denominations, and beginning to accumulate some non-denominated first and second class values from 1993 through 2000.
I like clean, clear, circular date cancels, showing that the stamps were used in the period in which they were issued for the purpose for which they were printed.

There all kinds of ways to collect postage stamps,
and your circular date cancels are just one very
interesting and probably intriguing path to follow.
The prime criterion is that what you are doing is
fun for you.

JT thanks for sharing - very impressive to me - I too enjoy collecting to show the stamp was cancelled in the period issued. Not sure if I am allowed to promote myself here but I try hard to select Machins and other GB stamps with date cancels for my online store.
anything you are wanting ( free within reason :-) please ask me. Michael
That's an interesting set, I was looking for any postmarks from places I have lived and it was good to see a Harrow and Wembly cancellation.
Here for interested viewers during a time of social restrictions a part of a calendar collection of 3 1/2p 1 centre bar (second class) and 4 1/2p 2 bars (first class) ex-sheet Machin definitives used in period for the month of November, 1974. All 30 days of the month are accounted for with dated examples of each first and second class stamp.
