Since we're all holed up trying to ride out this difficult time, I have spent a lot of time browsing hobby sites and auctions.

This is from a current internet auction. The description:

"Used U.S. #24 Small Tear"

In that case a 'big tear' staggers the imagination!! The question to me is 'is this an intentional deception, or lack of knowledge?'

Good question Dan. I think its deliberate. but who would take the bait? #24 is not a difficult stamp.

re: Want a Laugh?

I find with my friends who do not collect, they don't understand what damage does to the value. They would look at that and, since only one corner is damaged, they would assume most of the value to still be there. I was an antique dealer for over 30 years and people could not understand why I would not buy a cup and saucer with a minor chip or crack. Maybe this was a person who normally didn't deal with stamps, I doubt it, but lets give the person the benefit of the doubt!!!

C'mon, fellas, there's still plenty of stamp left.

If your wife or kid took a bite that size out of your Big Mac, would you cry that you're going to eat the rest, but go home hungry?

Cheers,

/s/ ikeyPikey

Nah Stampcollector 1- Just some silliness from some guys with a bit of time on their hands. For example, consider that Passover has been delayed because of a PLAGUE!!!

If you have ever been to a flea market or yard sale (at least in rural South), this would not surprise or shock you. Some people will try to sell anything - intact or not.
