Perhaps someone here can shed some light on this anomaly. Is this an EFO? Or am I ignorant of something? My 2019 Scott Specialized does not reference this. Thanks for any help. ChrisImage Not Found

re: What do I have here?

You could try spraying a little bleach on a good one, and see what happens.

Or, ask your local gym/spa if you can mount one in a tanning bed for a few weeks.

Since all of the colors are faded, my guess is PMD (Post Mint Damage), and not a production error.

Cheers,

Almost certainly sunlight faded or water damaged. Check for fugitive inks in the
Scott catalog.

re: What do I have here?

Hi! Thanks for the responses but I think the matter is a little more complicated than damage of any sort. I have made a copy of the lighter colored version from a picture in the 2020 Mystic catalog. The darker picture is of the same stamp from a 2019 Scott Specialized catalog. I find it difficult to believe that Mystic would picture a damaged stamp in their catalog. Also I have many of each variety but I tend to think that the Scott picture has to be the most relevant. Some how to me it seems that this variation should have been recognized by Scott. Does anyone know more about this? And check your versions to see which you have. thanks again. Chris ccnddImage Not Found

re: What do I have here?

Chris -

I just checked my 70+ copies of the 2001 version of this stamp. I soaked all of these myself in lukewarm water. They all look like the picture in your 2019 Scott Specialized Catalogue, a deep orange color. I have none that look like the two in your original post.

I agree with Ikey and Irmead. You most likely have damaged stamps.

Can you tell us if they looked like that before you soaked them off paper?

It looks like that stamp was soaked in water that was too hot.

I have done that to a couple other stamps and the appearance is identical.
