Is there an easy way to tell the fake GUAM overprint from the Real McCoy or is another case of "don't buy without a certificate"? Can anyone out there show me a picture of the real overprint next to a fake?
Addition: The stamps I'm referring to are Guam #1 - #13 which are overprinted GUAM on US stamps issued just before 1900. I see them on line and would really like to know if it is possible to tell whether they are genuine or one of many forgeries. I have similar stamps from all the other US protectorates of this time period but these are a bit more expensive, hence prone to fakes. Can anyone offer advice?

re: Guam overprints

You can search the PF database of certificates to see both genuine and fakes.

re: Guam overprints

Thanks for that. I used your link and did a search for Guam and the thing I noticed is how crisp the overprints appear, a lot of the ones on line are much wore blurred. I also noticed the type of font that was used and I'll watch for that as well. Not perfect, but it helps. Does anyone out there have some valid, or fake ones, they would be willing to share? Thanks again for the reply!
