I found this looking through a old album. A used 4 Francs, Kaiser Franz Joseph overprint Acording to my Michel (2013) it´s Mi.7 from 1904 and priced at €800. Any thoughts?

re: Austrian Post on Crete

Hi Opa,

This would be a nice find if it's genuine but I'm not sure.

The postmark seems to be JERUSALEM which makes sense as a lot of the French currency stamps were used there.

I can't see the postmark clearly but I wonder if the letters may be too widely separated (although this is just my impression).

It would be much more convincing if it had a clear date (or any date) and there weren't so many postmarks.

I have a vision of a sheet of mint stamps being "improved" with a fake canceller. Sad

I hope I'm wrong and that you've struck lucky with this one.

I also noted the 3 cancels and just found in one of my older catalogs that reads #1-7 are common with fake cancels. Would have been a good find. Sad, I think the stamp itself has a very nice design.
