That helps Bob and makes sense. I have a small selection of regional (Warsaw) issues coming and am sort of curious if any of these may have been considered part of the missing Scott's #2 to #10, but if the 1925 edition doesn't include them I doubt it. I'm still curious what the other albums do for the time period between 1860 to 1918, if anything.

Harvey, see above link. JUST A GUESS on my part, but could stamps numbered 1 thru 10 be the 10 missing from Scotts. Scotts may have listed them at first and them decided that they were considered locals so dropped them form their catalog.
Again, just my GUESS..

I was looking on line and found, what appears to be, some of my newly acquired Warsaw local stamps with Michel numbers. Could someone who uses that catalog have a look at the first Poland issues and post a scan of the first page? If this defies copyright I am not asking you to break the law, it just means I might have to buy the catalog. If someone has a used copy of the appropriate area could you please let me know?

I use the Minkus Poland album and the Scott numbers. Scott goes from #1 to #11 with nothing between and no explanation. The Minkus album shows a page from their own catalog where no numbers are omitted and #2 is Scott #11, #3 is number 12, etc. I know Poland issued a lot of local stamps and am wondering if some of those used to be recognized by older versions of Scott's and were dropped at a later point. Can anyone tell me what other catalogs do, catalogs like Stanley Gibbons, Michel, etc. I'm just curious what happened to the Scott numbers. I know from my US collection certain numbers do not exist in Scott's and in some cases they decided that certain stamps were never issued and do not really exist. I believe Canada #6 is an example of this. Can anyone give me a hand with these "missing" Poland stamps?
