love these little forays into boosterism
Cinderellas, not "stamps".
They are Cinderellas but also still stamps, just not postage stamps.
ah, nomenclature rears its head, opens its mouth, and..... pooh, a debate mostly about nothing.
Very interesting, Linus. Thanks for posting. Muncie is about 30 miles from where I grew up and where Ball State University (my alma mater) is located. A good friend of mine is a life-long resident of Muncie and a significant Muncie collector/historian. He has an immense collection, including postcards. I am going to share your post with him and see what he can tell us about the item.

They're labels! Get it straight folks!
They're stickers!
Get it right, Ernie!!
Here's another one, this one from Grand Rapids, Mich.
Also had the insert sheet with it;
It also had 2 loose stamps inside the envelope - I assume to be adhered to the front upper corners as examples of what was inside, like your envelope shows, Linus.
Congratulations, Linus. My collector friend of all things Muncie says your Muncie find is "ultra rare." He would know!
"HI Tom, I have these too. Here is an article I wrote a few years ago on them. they were sold by the Muncie News Company and I suspect they were sold in the City News Bookshop on Mulberry and Jackson. The owner of Muncie News, his brother (if I recall correctly) owned this City News Bookstore. All of these stamps were made into postcards too. I have every postcard that is pictured here. All of the postcards have "Muncie News" on the back too. I also attached an image of the City News - it is the only image of the bookstore I have. BTW, they are ultra rare. I have only seen 2 sets of these in over 45 years. I guess 3 now with the post you sent."

The link is to a posting of this item that my friend made on the very large "Lost Muncie" Facebook group he co-manages. That was in 2015.

Musicman - Thanks for showing the Grand Rapids photo stamps. I have the insert also, but my sheet of photo stamps is stuck to the face of it. I was wondering what the whole insert looked like, as I tried holding my sheet up to a light and could only partially make out some of it. Now I know what is on the insert.
Keesindy - Thanks for the kind words and additional info from your friend. I assumed these photo stamps were sold at the same places where postcards were sold, and I thought the images could be the same as on real photo post cards. Now I know for sure.
There are currently other sheets of similar photo stamps for sale on ebay for Boston, Massachusetts, Springfield, Illinois and world's fairs. Search on "real photo stamps" and include the quotation marks.
Linus
I found this sheet of real photo stamps from Muncie, Indiana, USA in my box of seals I am going through. It was printed on glossy photo paper like a photograph. I have no idea where I acquired this sheet, but an interesting way to promote your town.
