Hi
What is the definition of stamps in the MH category?
Until now, I thought there were unused stamps that had a hinge or a trace of a hinge.
I ask you because I recently bought 2 stamps presented by the seller as MH and which do not show any traces of hinges.
The first stamp has 2 folds and the second 2 small areas with glossless gumm.
MH also means unused stamp (MNH) but with small gumm defects?

re: Which is the definition for MH stamps

Hey George. This is always a contentious area but I do think some people use the term as an overall short-hand indicator of “Not MNH” to include the various common permutations:
. Mint No Gum
. Mint Hinge Remnants
. Mint (Actually) Hinged
. Mint Lightly Hinged
. MNH But With Unexplained Gum Disturbances
. MNH With Gum Wrinkles (some of which may be from the printing process)
. MNH But With The Catalog Number in Pencil
. MNH With Flaws (like your example) only seen from the gum side

Part of what makes this hobby interesting and frustrating!

As a believer in the simplicity theorem I’d be happy with just “MNH” or “Mint” - like my buddy Soundcrest uses - but I am not a purist.

David.

re: Which is the definition for MH stamps

Thanks David
The explanation is logical and I think that in the future I will ask the sellers for details.
Now it was a happy case when the stamps are in a better condition than the one I was thinking about.
