David, SG commonwealth does mention at the beginning of the Australia listings that some issues are known with inverted watermarks. They do not note them as separate varieties in the listing for your issue.
What is the SG number for Sc68? If I know the stamp, I can help
Never mind, found it. SG87w inverted watermark 1927 1½d, retail A$80 MNH, A$30 mint, A$20 fine used
David, bear in mind that the perforation can be 14 (the more valuable one) or 13.5 x 12.5, which is not anywhere near so valuable.
Going through my pile of these stamps and finding it extremely tedious although about 90% of the watermarks are reasonably apparent.
Question: One of the stamps (#68) I found has a watermark that is "upside down". Of course, there is no listing for that in Scott. Is it a known variation?
Thanks, David
