I've mentioned the Keller series in a couple posts. A series about a stamp collecting hit man can't be all bad. Let me know which book you are missing and I'll send you a copy, I have them all, I think! I must see if I can find a copy of "generally speaking", it sounds interesting!
Edit: Just ordered a copy on Abe Books for $20 USD, we'll see how long it takes to get here!
Harvey,
Not necessary, I will find a copy in my local library (now that I can go back there!) But the last excerpt in the book left me confused - does Keller get married?
Geoff
SPOILER ALERT!!!
Keller not only gets married but ends up with a child - a girl who was called Jenny after the "inverted Jenny". If I remember right his wife knows his profession and is known to help out. Before I say more you really should find, and read, the book!
Yep, that was the piece , Also I think it gave Keller's first name! Shadows of Spenser.
Where can I find these books? What are the titles?
Here's a list of the books. https://lawrenceblock.com/series/keller/
You can find them on AbeBooks or Amazon or probably at any book store. There is one novel and the rest are collections of short stories. Sorry, I forget how to make the link live, my bad!
All of the Keller titles have the word "Hit" in the title. Book 5, "Hit Me," also came with two "souvenir sheets" (one mint, one cancelled) depicting stamps from "The Keller Collection." The signed numbered edition of the book also came with a Zazzle personalized stamp affixed below the signature.
Her is a link to LB's web page listing the series.

Most, if not all, of Block’s Keller books are currently available in both hard and soft cover on eBay for less than $5 each including shipping. That’s where I got all of mine at.
I just recently finished reading Lawrence Block's "Generally Speaking," a collection of his Linn's monthly columns from several years back when I was not a Linn's subscriber. The columns are enjoyable if a bit repetitive, a few of them would be a great introduction to a novice or a non-stamp collector to the mind of an avid collector. That being said, I am not sure I can get my wife to read it. Maybe a couple of columns.
The last ten columns of the book change content from straightforward editorial to an odd student/teacher conversation that while the information is excellent, I found it more distracting to read.
I've read the Keller series (save one) and of course they are part of my philatelic literature collection. There are some excerpts included.
If you are not familiar with the articles I recommend the book. I don't remember the cost (reasonable, it is self published by Block). The problem is you will want to go out and get the Scott Classic Specialized Catalogue to look up all of his references!
