Just found this on eBay. It doesn't mention an error color. I'm definitely not an expert on these. Maybe someone else can chime in.
Actually found 2 so I'm a little skeptical.
The base stamp is French Indochina Yvert #255.
The overprinted stamp shown is North Vietnam Yvert #36 or Scott #IL45 (Viet Nam, Democratic Republic with a Scott value of $2.40 mint / $3.35 used.

I would like to know who "Mr van Vollenhoven" was?
Was he a Belgian or a Dutchman?
A strange name for a Frenchman......
He was Dutch, adopting French citizenship because of his time in Algiers.
