David,
2008 Scott Specialized shows C81a at $10.00 for mint single and nothing for a used copy.
My 1990 Durland does not list C81a.

David,
dont have current catalog, but my 99 has C81 used at .15, and no used price for C81a,,but followed is set value- under used column, .45. I believe this indicates the set as one C81 and one C81a.
a C81 mint block is priced about4 1/2 times a single (.35/1.65) So would assume same ratio for C81a-- 6.00 mint single- 27.00 PB. Useing Scott thinking.
Scotts has indicated it will be adding more detail info on many of the U.S. issues ,in the upcoming 2010 specialized.
good luck.

Hi
I need help with Scott C81a, the 21c airmail untagged variety.
I was processing a small lot of insured covers I bought in a recent eBay auction. For some reason, I brought out my UV lamp and checked it for the tagging. Scott lists the variety at $10.00 for an unused single (compared to 40c for the tagged variety), but doesn't price used copies.
My C81a is a PB on a insured cover, paying the 2 ounce rate (13c plus 11c) and insurance from $15.01-$50.00 (60c), for a total of 84c (PB = 4 x 21c). These rates existed in the early 70s for about 5 years.
My questions are:
does Scott price this as used in more recent editions?
Does Durland show pricing for a PB (especially used)? [I have an earlier Durland, but it doesn't acknowledge C81a, only C81]
I'd appreciate any help you can offer.
David
