I was hoping to find some type of vinyl sleeve that could be included in a 3-ring binder. I've not had much luck there. I tend to collect FDCs sporadically and intermix them with my stamp collections.
If I have to break down and buy a FDC binder and slip covers any suggestions as to which company makes good products for FDCs?

Hello Chris,
I am mounting my current FDC collection that I am developing on 67 pound paper(for stiffness and archival quality) using the photographic corners ( 4 to a cover). Using my word processing program, I have a border and center a title and a 2 or 3 sentence write up for the item. Many times I use the landscape position on the page set up for the cover. There are probably as many different ways to mount or store FDC's as there are collectors. I use a three hole punch that allows me to use a loose leaf binder for an album. It depends on your preferences.

If you want to intermix FDCs with your stamp collection, you may want to look into stocksheets that come with various pocket sizes. There are several manufacturers/systems available, for instance Lighthouse Vario pages. I use those, but like I said, almost all album manufacturers have a competing product. These fit a regular 3-ring binder.
You may want to stick with a brand product -- I have had bad luck with no name, "special buys". Not so much that the quality was poor, but I had problems buying additional pages. So, to guarantee availability / uniformity in the future a well established brand is your best bet. Also, you may be able to occasionally pick up used stock sheets at a bargain price for your albums -- because the number one down side to those vinyl stock pages is their high cost. You will have a hard time paying less than $0.80 - $1.00 per page. So at times, the stock sheets are more expensive than the stamps on them. If you want the attractive brand binders, it is another $20-30.
The nice thing about FDCs is that they are all pretty much the same size. With the exception of the occasional souvenir sheet they fit stock sheets with two pockets easily (two front, two back = four covers per page). If you collect commercial covers, that come in all kinds of shapes, then bins (stackable plastic drawers) are your best option (apart from creating your own pages the way Joel describes it).
Too bad stamp stores have disappeared all over the country. How nice would it be to just go to a store and to be able to check out various products before deciding.

Thanks for the outpouring of suggestions. I've located one person who sells packets of vinyl 3 ring sheets with 2 covers per page ......but not cheap. I'll also look at ebay.........It really is amazing how much spontaneous help is offered through Stamporama. I appreciate all of your generosity. Chris

If memory serves, vinyl sheets harm photographs...don't know what it would do to stamps and paper. Polyethylene, the "archival" photo sheets for three ring binder might be better. And I would suggest looking at archival supply houses (Light Impressions, Hollinger Metal Edge) for archival quality "3-ring clamshell box albums" (Hollinger) or "TrueCore Binder Box" (Light Impressions). These are full clamshell boxes in a few sizes, with three rings.
