I always manage to browse through all of the books at garage and yard sales, not only because it gives me a picture of the people selling stuff, but also because there are incredible finds for the avid book reader. This past Saturday was no exception, and at one of my stops I was richly rewarded.

"Top Dollar Paid", although subtitled "The Complete Guide to Selling Your Stamps" is not just a book about that subject. Drawing on a rich history as a stamp dealer, Stephen Datz is a talented storyteller who manages to illustrate many aspects of our hobby with extremely entertaining and informative personal anecdotes.

The 165 page paperback book is published by General Philatelic Corporation, Loveland, Colorado. It has a cover price of $14.95, but I am sure that it could probably be found at a much discounted price.

All stamp collectors could benefit by reading this book, whether they have large investment quality collections, or are typical everyday collectors. I believe it should be a "must read" for all current collectors and potential enthusiasts.
