Am going through a page of NSW and notice many have inverted wms. Nothing in Scott about it. Any info would be appreciated. Also I have an NSW type A28, closest I can find is
Sc. #105 -emerald , looks blue-green to me, although pic on scanner makes it look almost emerald. what do y'all think?
Image Not Found
Also have this Hong Kong #36. reg. scott has 36b -carmine, mine is rose like #9.
Anyone have a classic cat.? unfortunately, I sold mine, didn't think I needed it that much.

re: NSW: Inverted watermarks

NSW. The only thing Scott 2011 Classic has for the type A28 is 105 - emerald. Yours is probably a 105.

Hong Kong. Scott Classic does show a 36a - rose carmine at $225 mint and $35 used.

Hope this helps,

George

re: NSW: Inverted watermarks

Stanley Gibbons part 1 states that ......

The stamp printers in the various Australian Colonies paid little attention to the position of the watermark in the sheets they produced so that some entire printings have the watermark inverted. The upshot is no difference in price. Gibbons only lists the colour as emerald. Can't help you on the Hong Kong as you have given a Scott number and I don't possess a Scott catalogue.

re: NSW: Inverted watermarks

Thanks, BG. thought as much on the Hong Kong. Got a 96 Scott buried somewhere, guess I ought to dig it out.
Thanks for the info, GM: considering about half of what I was watermarking was inverted I suspected it was a common practice. I have an SG GB catalog, can't hardly make head nor
tails of it. Also, don't know much about purple dragons, just purple cows.
