Hi John
Looks like Victoria #B1

John, Victoria is one of Australia's States, along with Tasmania, Western Austraia, Queensland and New South Wales. Also South Australia and Northern Territory. They all issued individual stamps before the unification of these Colonies about 1900.Somewhere around my desk, misplaced for the moment, but not really lost, I have a very interesting pamphlet that tell the legalistic story of that period. Some of those issues are very striking
Dear Lee, Charlie and Brian:
Thank you sincerely for your help, and for not ridiculing me while giving it. I used to consider myself very knowledgeable of the Australian States and how I missed this can only be explain thusly:
"That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again."
While scavenging the nether regions of my "Stamp Oddments" box, I came across this beauty which I am unable to identify in either my Scott or Stanley catalogues.
Is it a figment of someone's imagination, or is it an authentic postage stamp, or is my eyesight worse than I thought?
