Tim, not sure I follow what you're saying. Scott #50 (SG #39) comes in two different dies. Die IV, Scott #50 and Die II, Scott #50a. Neither Scott nor Gibbons mention any paper type.
Thanks for checking for me Michael. I do apologize, I think I'm losing it. I obviously got confused with one of the other stamps around it. It has been a long day.
Tim.
As you will have guessed I'm sure, I'm in the middle of sorting out and cataloging a large batch of Australian Kangaroos, my favorite stamp. I was just checking out a Scott #50, checking it for the Die. This particular stamp only has two variations, one on normal paper and one on shiny paper. My question that I hope you will have a wonder answer for is, on these 80+ year old stamps, how do you tell the difference between shiny paper and normal paper. On the surface this would seem like a simple question, but I don't believe that I have ever seen what I would call a shiny paper with a Kangaroo on it, if you know what I mean.
Regards TIm.
