I went on eBay and saw several. Some were priced between $10 and $20. Are these likely reproductions? There was also a lot that included one original and 2 reproductions for $125. Is that too good to be true?
I had actually hoped to buy one in a frame but can't seem to find that anywhere. Does anyone know where I might find that?
I looked at Kenmore stamps as well and they sell them for $300 in a leather dossier with a certificate of authenticity. Is that my best bet? Any and all help here is appreciated!

Are you a member of the American Philatelic Society? They have a great stamp store--I just purchased one from there. On the other hand, both on eBay and APS I have paid between $60 and $100 for the Penny Blacks. Make sure you get a thorough description and try to get items with no faults. If you want really nice ones, expect to pay $200 or so. That should get you a good copy with no faults, good color and even a sharp cancel. Unless you're going for unused--that ups the ante considerably.

You can find a used one from a "real" dealer on eBay for around $120. But look over the seller’s information VERY carefully. You may want to ask, there may be some people here that has one for sale. I forget who it was, but there was one person who had three at different prices.
Personally, I wouldn't hang a real one on the wall. My most expensive real stamp that is wall mounted only values in at $30. Now making a replica wall mount, that’s a whole other story.
What I did for a wall display is bought one of those reproductions and made my own display sheet and then mounted them in an 8 1/2 X 11 diploma/certificate frame. I can email you the display sheet if you like. You can get the frame at WalMart for around $3 to $5 depending on how fancy you want it to look. As far as replicas, you really need to be careful. There are those sellers that are very cheap in how they re-produce them. It took me 3 tries to find a very decent looking Inverted Jenny replica. The first two looked fake right from the start. The third person (Inverted Replica World) sent me a gorgeous replica and I went on to buy quite a few more from him. Message me and I'll give you the link to the person's store since posting it publicly might be a breach of forum rules.
So in short, find yourself the real deal and put it nice, safe and secure in your album. then go and buy a replica and make a wall display. Then you have the best of both worlds. That’s just my thoughts.

My copy of the Mona Lisa is wall-mounted and my original is on permanent loan to the Louvre.
Wouldn't it be boring if we were all of the same bent? My version of Hades is a population who are mirror-images of one another in taste, values, etc.

Pat, when the Penny Black came out, the people liked it so much that many bought enough of the stamps to wallpaper their homes. Talk about having the stamp on the wall!

Did you buy it in a frame? If so, do you remember where you found it? I thought I had seen them somewhere but can't seem to locate framed penny blacks anymore.

No, I purchased my Penny Black from a reputable Canadian stamp dealer (Canadian$150.00 with a money-back guarantee if not as advertised). I then purchased a frame with glass at a thrift shop for 50¢ and mounted the stamp myself for display. It hangs in a foyer (a short hallway/landing) where it is not exposed to direct light. I transit this foyer about a dozen times a day enabling me to view my Penny Black each time I pass it by.
Originally had it in my stamp album but, personally, found it inconvenient to view my Penny Black as often as I would like to, as my albums are stored in our drive-in garage which has been converted to a quasi-memento mori for me and my various life-long accumulations. I placed a copy of my PB in my album.
This solution suits me nicely. I recommend you pursue your stamp-collecting hobby in the manner that suits you best.

I know I'm new at collecting and need to spend my money wisely. I actually just won a small settlement in a Personal Injury lawsuit and my husband and I decided on an amount for bills and an amount for each of our hobbies. His happens to be gardening if anyone wants to know! I have enough to buy a Penny Black as well as a decent amount of other stamps and I REALLY want a Penny Black so I'm hoping you all can help me make a good decision.
