re: Whats a good Canada stamp album?

White Ace has one, as does Scott, Lighthouse, Lindner, Safe, and others. However, they are not like the Harris Liberty, which I take it you want that style due to cost?

Whitman used to make a Canada album like that as did Scott, but those are long gone, and you won't find supplements if you find a used one.

Check out the Steiner album pages. You subscribe to the service and download and print what you want.

http://www.stampalbums.com/

The pages are well designed, but they do not have catalog numbers or pictures in the spaces. Copyright issues there, but you can always print out the pages and write in the catalog numbers. Since you're in control of what and how you print, it may be your best low-cost alternative. I subscribe to this service to get the pages for stamps and countries that Scott doesn't provide album pages for.

re: Whats a good Canada stamp album?

Lot's of Harris Canada albums on ebay at a reasonable cost. If you want something for more recent issues, Unitrade also makes a nice Canada Junior album which reminds me a bit of the Harris album. Or you can also try Canadian Wholesale Supply. They are a Canadian company that produces albums similar to the Harris/Whitman publishers.

I have an older Scott Canada National album which I got cheap at auction because everyone else in my club must have one already!

re: Whats a good Canada stamp album?

Hi. I have a "Unity" album from Collector's Supply House. Colour pages, which I liked, but over time I think I would prefer black and white illustrations since at times it's tough to tell the spaces from the stamps!

I really like the layout and writeups though. I think the 'parliament' album is similar but black and white?

Here's a link: http://www.collectorssupplyhouse.com/can_s_albums/can_unity.htm

Note: I bought mine in 1995 and it cost quite a bit less then! Must be all the new issues.

PS -- here's a link to the parliament: http://www.collectorssupplyhouse.com/can_s_albums/can_parliament.htm

re: Whats a good Canada stamp album?

I too am on the front end of a Canada collection and needed an album. When I began to look at/for Canada albums I finally came to the conclusion to use the pages from stampalbums.com, select my own paper and binder and go from there. I've done the same with Poland, Australia, Liechtenstein, the Canal Zone and US PNCs too.

The lack of any Scott numbers or illustrations does make placing stamps a bit more difficult to ID stamps but you learn more too.

I've included a sample page from my Poland collection sans the left margin and holes.

re: Whats a good Canada stamp album?

Some thirty years ago I bought a collection of Canada that was mounted in a White Ace Album. For several years I bought the updated pages but eventually decided that, considering the cost of keeping several different countries' albums updated each year, commercial pages cut too deeply into my stamp budget.
Around that time I discovered slightly heavier acid free paper available in ream sized packages for comparable prices with regular copy machine paper.
That simplified things immensely as a I needed was a good three hole punch and a sharp #2 pencil for notes.
Of course the attractive decoration and borders were missing, but actually I collect stamps, not artwork.
So that is what all my active albums became filled with.
Gradually the most active national albums became thicker and thicker and wider binders were needed and some have become two binders for certain nations such as USA, the UK and Canada..

Though the above noted page is printed it's nice to see someone that can find pleasure with a blank sheet of good stock, a hand full of stamps, a pencil and straight edge.

Kudos, sir.

re: Whats a good Canada stamp album?

The best album is one you create on your computer. All you need is a computer, printer, a good publishing program/software, a few three ring binders, three hole punch, misc. supplies, stamp catalogue and a great imagination.

I collect Canada, Australia and Great Britain and there isn't a store bought page in the twenty binders that house them. I can arrange the stamps anyway I want and I have room for all the oddities this hobby can throw at me. The pages are safely housed in side loading sheet protectors and are in no danger when the Grandkids want to look through the collections. There are a lot of adults who are not collectors and most have little idea how to handle an album, no worries with sheet protectors. The paper and sheet protectors are all acid free. I don't like blowing my own horn but I think the albums look great. Did I menion that my wife is my quality control? She is a great help and has gained a lot of philatelic knowledge over the years.

I save the pages to the computer hard drive and then burn them to a CD. If I want to change a page I read it from the CD into memory and do my thing. It gives me another avenue in which to enjoy my favorite hobby. I have numerous CDs of clip art that I use to dress up some pages. I try to use something that is related to the issue. Did I mention that I do all of this on an old computer that uses Windows '98 as an operating system and the publishing program is 15 years old.

I'm too old to change now but as my 'Techie friend' says, one of these days that ole pelter is going to die. Well I guess I could too. I'm not sure to whom he was refering.

Enjoy your hobby. Remember there is no right or wrong way to collect, find your way and stick to it.

Cheers

re: Whats a good Canada stamp album?

Okay... It's been several months, so this is probably too late as a suggestion.

However,I found the old Minkus 3-ring single country album to be excellent for my Canada collection. I don't know if it is still in publication.

For those specialty items, like booklet panes, I just made some blank pages on my computer and added those to my album.
