I just received my first album. (Lighthouse 32-Black Page Stamp Stockbook LS2/16) Seems to be very nice album. However, I guess I didn't pay too much attention to the size dimensions when I ordered it. Naturally I will use this, but my question is...

I have strips and block and even several sheets, suggestions on albums for these?

Thanks

Clayton

A Service Dog gives a person with a disability independence. Never approach, distract or pet a working dog, especially when (s)he is in harness. Never be afraid to ask questions to the handler (parent).

re: Album Suggestions

Hi Clayton & welcome to your new world of stamps.

Many people use mounts for their stamps (I don't use them so I can't give advice on them).

Others use Vario stock pages which are similar to what you see in your stockbook, however you can get them with in great variety of pockets per page from 8 pockets to single pockets. The number of lines per page depends on the size of the stamps. Many older stamps are quite small & fit into what you see in your stockbook. Others can be large in size & require larger pockets. Souvenir Sheets, Blocks, generally fit into two or three pocket per page sheets.

My suggestion for now as you are just starting out, to use your stockbook to sort your stamps & put your blocks, sheets, etc on the same page as your stamps. The page divider will protect them.

You will, no doubt receive many suggestions, as we all have our own unique way of designing our albums. Some use the above methods, others use pre-printed pages that can be purchased with or without albums & others design their own pages using a computer or the "old-fashioned" way of using pencil & ruler.

In time, with the ideas you gather from others here, you will find the way that best suits you.

There is no "right" or "wrong" way (provided you don't damage the stamp) & your collection & ideas of how to arrange it will grow as you learn more.

Kelly

Yes, everything Kelly wrote plus, since I collect postally used stamps I mount them with hinges and being a cheapskate I by a ream of 90# acid free paper and make my own pages as I go. That way I can add notes or numbers where I feel they are useful and ignore such niceties when I do not think they are needed, because I hate to spend more time messing with a catalog than actually mounting stamps. I use manila or Vario pages to accumulate, sort and layout what will be on a page often so that I can see how things will look when the page is fully complete

Remember it is your album and your collection so try a few different things so that you will get the most satisfaction with the result..
