You can find used, off cover examples of British Colonial stamps that saw air mail service. They will show an air mail cancel.
Your 65c KUT stamps was first issued on 1st May 1935. You can see an assortment of airmail covers from around that time on this site:

Terry, Just wanted to say: Nice Stamps
You might find the information for which you are looking in Robson Lowe's "Encyclopedia of British Empire Postage Stamps". It is in several volumes covering different geographic areas so you need to find the right volume. I know volume 1 is Great Britain and Europe and volume 5 is North America. I don't know the other volumes.

Hi, JillCrow...
I've looked at a lot of airmail covers & the postage is different. I don't know if it has to do with the weight of the contents, or sometimes rates are different to different parts of the world. I guess I was just hoping for something official stating what the rate was to where in 1935.

Thank you very much for the title. I will begin my search.
All you folks here are the greatest!!!!!!
Good Morning.....
I've tracked down the Kenya, Uganda & Tanganyika issue. And, from a mid-1950's Sanabria, I found the listing for airmail stamps of that country. They include:
SC# 53 - 1935 65c from the KGV pictorial set
Sc# 89 (89a & 89b) - 1942 70c Provisional overprint on the 1s value from Union of South Africa
Sc# 111 & 113 - 1955 65c and 1s30c stamps from the QEII pictorial set
I will need to create a new album page to include these in my early worldwide airmail collection. I'll keep my fingers crossed to see if any nice mint copies of these stamps show up in the auction.
Cheers,
Terry
Okay, so I collect pre-1950 worldwide airmail stamps. I find that many of the early British Colonies did not actually issue "airmail" stamps. However, some stamps the the early KGV, KGVI and QEII sets had denominations that were specifically for the the airmail rate at the time. Here are some of the British Colonial "airmail" stamps that I have been able to confirm so far:
So, I came across this stamp from Kenya, Uganda & Tanganyika that I think may fall into the "airmail" catagory as well. Can anyone tell me if 65c was the airmail rate for this colony around 1935? Or, where can I find information about British Colonial airmail rates circa 1935-1950?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
