re: Australian Perfs

There were different types of official markings on Australian early stamps - there were perfins with large and small 'OS' and there were OS overprints later on. The early Kangaroo large 'OS' perfins are not that easy to find. There are a few varieties but that would be taking things a bit furthur without preview of images - is it possible to post the images here or at Photobucket and provide links.

What tools would a would be re-perfer need to aquire for reperfing and where are they found? Do collectors find someone who is expert in the process? I've always wanted to try that! Ha.

Most of the reperf's I have seen were un-even and rough. I've seen perfing machines at APS headquarters which got my attention.

Have any of you had some of your SE's reperfed. Cost, satisfaction, sales?

Thanks.

re: Australian Perfs

Snowy,
Interesting blog, beyond reporting him to EBay every time his new user name is discovered isn't there anything law enforcement can do? I would assume people are not sending him cash. There has to be a banking trail. He does seem to refund unhappy buyers. Too bad more of them don’t realize they have been taken.

If he is using a post office box to commit fraud couldn't he be arrested for using the mail to defraud? Here in the US the Postal Inspectors would have had him handcuffed and in jail already.

There seems to be a pervasive naivety when it comes to EBay. EBay doesn’t look out for sellers or buyers, just EBay. My wife sells a lot on EBay and is amazed when someone buys something then wants a refund. She offers a refund if the buyer ships the item back. One or two buyers have complained to EBay, keep the item and reverse the payment. EBay doesn’t care neither does PayPal.

Hi Michael
Totally agree Ebay looks after Ebay .Several times they has been shut down ,just reinvents their self with a new name and carries on, as you can see from the link.
It makes Ebay look bad when they ignore this kind of behaviour from one of their sellers.
Ebay have to know who they are ,and they should report them to the police, but then they lose money.

re: Australian Perfs

There are a number of people who are modifying stamps (not just David Koche, but a few from around the world)a number are well known as either bad traders &/or dealers and most of us just avoid them like the plague, some re-invent themselves or begin trading under 'other' family members names, either way they are a blight on philatelic members around the world
