I met a young lad at the local stamp club meeting the other night who had just started out to collect stamps. Well, he ended up purchasing a large sack of worldwide stamps from one of the other members. He started going through them & was really perplexed seeing all of the different writing on the stamps. He would keep asking "Where is this stamp from?".

So, I showed him a guide on the The International Society of Worldwide Stamp Collectors web site that would help him identify which countries had issued all of those beauties. He was really excited now to track down each an every one like Sherlock Holmes... hot on the trail!

That web site is: http://www.iswsc.org/iswsc_ident.html#A
For any of you folks that want to share the fun.

Cheers,
Terry

This is a super helpful website! After about a year of collecting, I have most countries down but some still get me. Thanks for sharing this!

@lisagrant87

So glad to hear that it proved useful for you. I've been collecting/studying stamps for more than 50 years & I still get stumped every once in awhile as well.

Over the years I've acquired a lot of reference material & I also enjoy searching the internet. I always remember that I don't have to know all of the answers, I just have to know where to find them.

I have had several members here at Stamporama who were kind enough to help me with some answers, and I am glad to pay it forward.

Have fun!
