Hi Tim. Thanks for the welcome!
I have several collectible areas but my primary interests are in British Hong Kong, British Treaty Ports in China, and Queen Victoria portrait stamps and Cinderellas. I also have smaller collections of paquebot cancels, HK cancels on foreign stamps and foreign cancels on HK stamps, a small Hawaii stamp and cover collection, and space themed stamps and covers for philately; I also have a collection of coins and currency, including WW2 Japanese occupation notes; space and NASA collectibles; and about 500 first edition signed hardback novels. Cheese, I sound like a hoarder!
I've already posted some images in the Asia section on cancels, and will be posting more from the collection when I can get around to organizing them.
Cheers,
Peter
I collect worldwide -- basically any stamp that was valid for postage. I will accumulate any revenues or cinderellas that may pop up in the lots I buy, but normally I do not buy an item/lot just for them.
The only non-postage philatelic items I really collect is selvedge and booklet covers/liners.
You forgot the most important thing, Kim:
As long as they are sold for one penny!
rrr....
PS: I am suggesting a contest. Let us help kim select an appropriate avatar. Post your suggestions. The Prize for the winning entry: a rare (bough for a penny) stamp just like kim would love to find.
It's nice to be where people understand me...

Tim,
Thank you-I collect mainly U.S. but I am down to the BIG$$$ which I cannot really afford so I do a little selling to help. I'm currently trying to save for my avatar the infamous
Scott's #5a . I have also started collecting G.B. mainly early I try and stay away from those darn machin's -remind me to much of the Washington -Franklin issue's. Also stray into other area's by whats appealing to me. I'm also an avid fisherman.
rrraphy -not the dreaded sharpie- did you pick that up at your local P.O....
rrr, I thought of a prize for KHJ, but it is a Muenster copper three pfennig piece from 1603. KHJ would never tolerate that and would probably cut it in thirds. I couldn't allow that to happen. The only other alternative I can think of would be some stamp selvedge.
Tim,
I feel your pain. No Smilie.

I have been a member of SOR for over 3 years, but wasn't very active, so I guess you could call me a new member / BidStart refugee and perhaps I should introduce myself (again). My interests are strictly U.S. postage. No revenues or possessions. My focus right now is what to do about the no die cut issues. I have a preliminary strategy, but there seems to be a curve ball every other month!
I have also been doing a lot of work lately updating my collection to use plate numbers as self-authenticating stamps. I spent so much time trying to figure out some subtle differences between stamps and still felt like I needed a cert to "prove" I had the correct variety in some cases until khj told me about the Durland Plate Number catalog and now I'm a plate number single nut on varieties!
I am not a dealer, strictly a collector, and the number of duplicates I have is quite limited. I usually have a yard sale every 2 or 3 years.
I am grateful for all I have learned from my friends at BidStart and look forward to learning more from the fine folks at SOR. I hope I am able to provide some meager amount of knowledge in a pinch.
Cheers!
Lars

I would just like to say welcome to our new members from BS and VSC. I know you guys have been through a bunch of stuff (#5$@^&!! etc), but I want to say welcome. Some of you have told us a little bit about your philatelic interests, but I would like to encourage you all on this thread to share with us what your collecting interests are. I personally am focusing at the moment on New Zealand, Australia and Ireland. I'm just wondering how we can help you all?
Best regards ... Tim.

Hi Tim. Thanks for the warm welcome. Sorry for taking the discussion off thread..it felt so good to see familiar faces, I lost all self control!
Back to topic if I may: I collect extensively Middle East, and Europe (except British and Scandinavia), with strong France "colonial empire" related emphasis. I also collect Caribbean and will migrate to Latin America later..one day.
I am downsizing the rest, as well as some of my Europe, so planning to give parts to interested relatives and friends, and sell, exchange and donate to charities other parts of my collections, some of which are fairly substantial. In the topical area, it is primarily Europa and Europa related, (Michel CEPT Katalog is a good guideline).
Looking forward to the SOR family. with the recent exodus, it feels like home.
I usually sign rrr.... (real name Ralph, as an Americanization of Raphael, with rolling the rrrs absolutely required).

Actually, it looks like I accidentally started my cut and paste 3 lines lower than I was supposed to (i.e., I missed the first 3 lines when I selected the quote). My eyes are really getting bad. I will need to increase the font size some more in my browser...
I guess I should also start proofreading my quote to make sure I quoted what I wanted...
