I just can't throw a stamp away, it is against some ancient ritual of mine or something. Anyways, I received an envelope of stamps on paper from my good friends Florie and Gerald. They were mostly the normal run of the mill used Canadian issues. Then I found four pieces of paper on which there were ten CFL Football Edmonton Eskimo stamps and eight Mental Health stamps. Wow! Then I spotted it, they were all attached to the paper with packing tape. Arrrgh!

Now remember my hangup about throwing away a stamp! Well I finally quit crying and got my can of 'Pure Cirus' out and went to work. I sprayed the back of the paper the stamps were attached to with a liberal amount of 'Pure Citrus'. I then removed the paper, no problem. Then I turned the stamps face down on newspaper and sprayed them with another liberal coat of spray. I left them for ten minutes and then started to remove the tape. The tape peeled off and not one of the stamps were damaged. They had a heavy coat of glue both sides which I removed by rubbing the stamps between two fingers.

What a mess. You need four hands for this job for sure. I did get the glue off of both sides. Took longer to get it off my hands. I then soaked the stamps in hot soapy water and dried them on newspaper. I looked at them this morning and they are fine, a faint hint of lemon when passed directly past ones nose but otherwise no ill effects. I will leave them out on newspaper for a few days to air out and check them again.

Folks! 'Pure Citrus' really works. We all know how difficult it is to remove scotch tape from stamps. This problem I had, had glue on two sides of the stamps and I was able to save every stamp. I'll never be without a can of 'Pure Citrus' it is fantastic as far as I am concerned. There were a few of the stamps that had packing tape on both sides and yet I was able to save them all.

So don't throw away that stamp because it has tape on it, get out your can of 'Pure Citrus' and get to work. I buy my 'Pure Citrus' at Canadian Tire.

That is close to amazing, Lyall. In fact, it might be well into amazing.
I have just given up on stamps that were covered all or in part with tape. I think I deep sixed some just last week. I have tried not to think about it especially since at times the stamp is, or was, an otherwise "keeper."

Pull up Google search and enter Pure Citrus in the search field. You will get dozens of sources, both online and at local stores such as Home Depot. Just remember, you want the non-aerosol spray (no CFCs).
