Guten Tag, Herr PhilaStore. Do you have another name by which we can address you? There are others of German background here, who I am sure will introduce themselves shortly. My mother was from the Frankfurt area, and I have family in Nordrhein-Westfalen. When I worked in California, in the 1980s, my job often took me to El Paso. I remember there being many Germans stationed there. I had a German girlfriend there. She took me across the border to Juarez to a strictly German bar, where she told me to keep my mouth shut (I do not speak German) and let her do the talking if we were approached by anyone. Sure enough, after a short time, a man came up to our table and had a short conversation with my girlfriend, then left. She explained that he was questioning who I was and what was I doing there. She did some smooth talking, explaining how I was a trainer working with the German Army at Fort Bliss. That seemed to satisfy him, and we had no further incidents.
I have been working on filling in my German colonies lately. I will be sure to turn to you when I need help.
Welcome to Stamporama. There are a great bunch of collectors here.
Tedski (from my father's Polish side)
Hi all, I forgot to mention my name, my name is Manfred, and Tedski I remember that German bar in Juarez very well. The owner was a Mexican lady, we called her "MAMA CITA" and she called us her boys.

Hi Manfred,
Welcome to you from another StampoRama newbie from "Down Under"!
Elizabeth
Hi all, I like to introduce myself to the community. I'm a new member to StampoRama, I was buying and selling stamps in the past since 2001 on eBay, Yahoo auctions before it closed out, StampOffers what is now Wensy. My personal collecting interest is Germany from states to 2010 including colonies, occupations WWI & II, Berlin, DDR, plebiscite. Also Italy, France, Croatia till 1945, former Yugoslavia.
I served 12 Years in the German Air Force and I live since 1993 permanent in the United States. I do love it here. I was during my active service time 2 times stationed in El Paso Texas (Fort Bliss), that was in the mid-1970s. If you ask me, those were better days.
Well I guess that's enough for now to tell about me.
