Welcome Lindsey
I hope you get "hooked" before November - good way to occupy yourself during a South Dakota winter. Sure helps me pass the time when the snow piles up too high to see over!
-Bobby
Welcome Lindsey,
Lots of great folks here always willing to help. So dont be afraid to ask. I'm just the opposite I love getting out in the snow and cold to do some ice fishing with friends and family.Nothing better than a cookout on the ice!!!! When it gets hot is when I stay inside with the A/C cranked and sort through the piles.
Ross
Welcome, welcome, welcome; no, this isn't the Hunger Games, but a friendly bunch instead.
Cheers,
Peter
Welcome Lindsey, from another July 4th-er! I don't know how you approach having your b-day on the 4th, but I enjoy annoying friends and family by insisting that the celebrations are on my behalf. Glad to share the day with you.
Roger
Thanks to all of you - love the warm welcome! As for the South Dakota winters - I tend to stay inside but I'm more of an indoor kind of gal any time of year!
@drmicro - it's actually my daughter that's having her birthday on the 4th! She will be turning 1!
Welcome to StampoRama, Lindsey!
Good to bump into you here!
k
Ha! Hello! I was wondering if I would find any "old friends" around here!
Welcome Lindsey. Great group here. Lots of information to be shared.
Roger, I'm not a 4th-er, I'm a 6th-er. So let's enjoy the world celebrating our b'days together! Yea, us!
WELCOME Lindsey and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the LITTLE ONE !
Hi Lindsey
welcome to Stamporama

Hi Lindsey
Welcome to StampoRama. There's a lot of us gals here. This is a great site with lots of help free for the asking.
When I got back into my stamps, I went to the local library and used some of there catalogues "Scotts" for reference before I purchased my own.
Gro
Thank you "guys!"
Gro - I'm glad there are lots of us ladies! I thought about going to my library to check out their Scotts but I've got some pretty hefty late fees so I tend to shy away, lol! Not to mention their set is 2006! I ordered from an ebay seller that cuts up the Scott cat by country and sells them individually which is MUCH cheaper for me and I get the 2014 version!
Welcome to our humble home.
Yup, there are a number of us gals here - we're not all just old geezers (ducking from the flying catalogues and empty stockbooks)
Kelly
Poodle Mum - hahahahahaha! That's good to hear!
Lindsey,
Welcome aboard the best place for stamp collectors.
"we're not all just old geezers"
Kelly, I resemble that remark.
Mike
Welcome to Stamporama Lindsey - your daughter shares her birthday with my niece and I always chide her that whole of US is celebrating her birthday
Any of your kids interested in stamp collecting?
Welcome Lindsey!!!
I asked my daughter the other day if there is a 4th of July in England, and she told me no. Oops.
Bob
Bob, your daughter is wrong. There is a 4th of July everywhere; just it's commemorated in a few select places. In America, there's even a few folks who understand its significance.
Saleem - My kids are too young to really care right now, lol. They are 6, 3 and 1! Although I'm sure they would adore messing with them (and likely ruining them!) they don't quite "understand" what it's all about. Once I get more knowledgeable I may have to teach them!
Bob - Ha! My daughter would be sad to hear that she wouldn't get a birthday if she lived in England!
Hi Lindsey...nice to meet you here also..
David,
That's why I said oops. She was pretty embarrased when I said to her I didn't ask if they celebrated the holiday, I just asked if there was a 4th of July in England.
Bob
@bobggg - HULLOOOOOO!

Bob of many g's, I found an extra letter lying around at the bottom of this thread. I think it might have fallen from one of the above posts.

Welcome LInsey, happy to have you aboard, glad you plan to enter into the world of stamp collecting, beware, it's addictive. Try to get the older kids interested by assigning them a particular county and to share the fun with others. Perry
Hullo everyone, I'm Lindsey and I'm new here. A while back I was given two Minkus albums - British Europe and British Oceana ranging from 1840-1977 (sadly - no penny blacks!) I've finally decided to dig into them to check out the world of stamps! For right now my main goal is to identify and organize all of these babies so that I know what's here. After that, we'll see where it takes me. I'm sort of a hobby addict so I'm always doing something new it seems but few hobbies actually "stick" for the long term! As you may notice by my username, I'm female - there doesn't seem to be a lot of us around! I'm from the lovely state of South Dakota and have 4 kids ranging from a stepson who is 14 to the youngest little girl that will be 1 year old on July 4th! Whew!
