How can an internet carrier refuse email? Just curious as I've never hard of this before.
They have decided for some reason that they don't like the email coming from Stamporama. I really don't know why and they don't offer a phone number to call up and ask what is the problem that they are objecting to. There is a form that you can fill in to request to be put on their white list, which I have done, but they rejected my request.

Hi Tim. The problem may not be only with Verizon. I use Google G-mail. Over the past 10 days, I have sold almost 300 items and had maybe another 100 go unsold. I have only gotten emails on some of the lots sold to 2 different bidders and none for the others. Also, no unsold emails have gotten thru to me. Not really complaining, as I use the sold items screen move that the emails. Did get normal emails last month.
Also, I have had about 7-9 messages sent to me thru the system and usually I get an G-Mail email notice that I have a message. Have not gotten any. Was getting them last month.

Forget, just noticed that Gmail has a separate SPAM folder and the messages were there, all 400 or so of them.

I am with Kelly. This is something I have never encountered. This is analogous to the USPS refusing to deliver mail to me because I am a member of the NRA. Glad I no longer use Verizon, means I don't have to go through the hassle of finding another provider.
I've had problems such as this a few times over the years where Telus (our phone company and internet provider here on Salt Spring Island) was put on the 'black list' with a couple of internet providers in the USA. The reason given to Telus was that spam mail was being sent by a Telus customer to one or more of the other internet provider's customers. Eventually Telus and the the service would sort things out.
I personally have not had a problem for a couple of years.
I do however, have my email account set to allow spam emails to be sent to me marked as spam. I then have the choice of adding them to 'safe list' or having them added to 'block and delete'.

I hadn't been through their "White list" documentation, but having done so now it is still a little unclear as to exactly what the problem is. I think it may be a problem with a record in our domain setup. Roy Lingen is assisting me with working this through with our hosting service provider. I'll let you know how it works out.

I rarely login to gmail from Google; I use Outlook Express or Modzilla Thunderbird. So when I too stopped getting notifications from SOR I logged in and see they have "improved" the user interface. And in the process, all my SOR and bidStart emails are flagged as spam and sent to that folder! I can't find a way to add these domains to a white list with this new system.
I hate "improvements" like this!
I'm down for the count with Verizon, I've added Microsoft hotmail to my computer and flagged all discussion notifications to go there, sadly to say, nothing yet. "Thank you for contacting Verizon Online Abuse. After a thorough investigation of your issue, Verizon Online Abuse has determined that normal e-mail delivery should be restored within 12 hours."
Could those of you who have Verizon email accounts please let me know if/when you start to receive emails from Stamporama again?

This is not just a problem with Verizon. I have Yahoo mail and I have not received any emails from StampoRama since August 12th. It would be nice to get the emails though.
Is it a problem with the internet service provider or the e-mail service provider? I have Frontier and Comcast with a Yahoo account I use on both and don't seem to have any issues.
I also have Yahoo. Check your spam box to see if you received any messages from SOR. If so, open it and click on "Not Spam". That should clear up the problem, if the messages are in your Spam Box. If you simply delete the contents of your Spam Box without looking at what's in there, then you are acknowledging that the SOR messages are Spam, and may never see them again without fixing the problem with your Yahoo (or other email provider) settings.
Thanks Tim for getting on Verizon's backside, they've cleared up their stupidity now, but who knows what they'll do in the future.
But for those of us who are intellectually curious, it would be nice to know who or what shoved the hair up their corporate behind in the first place.
I've been out of the discussion loop for quite a while. Perry clued me in that I had to go into the member's area and indicate that I wanted to receive the discussion posts. Stupid me, I just thought there weren't any because folks were too busy with other things.
Then I had a Verizon FIOS experience-my phone,T.V. & Internet are bundled into one package and the electronics flow through a special box mounted on the wall. Somehow, and no one understands how it happened, the box self destructed! That means all service were lost until they sent a repair guy to finally replace the works.The kicker was that when I initially reported the malfunctions I was experiencing, the person on the other end of the phone continued to try to get me to understand that somehow I was responsible for the malfunctions and that I really didn't need a tech to come out. What a waste of time (2+hrs.) with that guy and another 5 days until the tech finally arrived.
Being annoyed at the whole thing, I then made sure that I was to be credited with lost service. That brought me to another bonehead and we went round & round until I requested a supervisor. End result was a credit back to my account, but what a pain!
Boy that felt good to get off my chest, and now my apologies to you all for the boring rendition.

Tomiseks makes an important point-one that is generous in recognizing the good others do.
In that vein allow me to add my remarks:
I appreciate all that Verizon does since it allows me to diss them and vent my spleen. All very good for my overall health. If they were perfect look at all the lost opportunities I would have.

This note is for members who use Verizon email services. Verizon has decided that they will not allow email from Stamporama. I have written to them but they won't change their decision. So, if you have an email address with verizon.net, the email messages and notifications from this discussion board and the auction, will not get to you. If you want to received the email messages from the SOR discussion board, the auction or the SOR message system, I suggest that you get an email address from another provider. There are many options available to you. I personally use Google's Gmail which I find to be very good. There are many other options open to you such as Yahoo and Microsoft's Hotmail. They all work very well.

This is not just a problem with Verizon. I have Yahoo mail and I have not received any emails from StampoRama since August 12th. It would be nice to get the emails though.
