This is the closest I could come to the $1 Eagle and Olympic Rings used on commercial cover. The cover is postmarked 10th July 1992, has a total of $1.34 postage and is of Greeting card size - the confusing bit is postage. Was this the rate of double/triple international airmail letter or the letter size/thickness has anything to do with it? Here's this pic

Saleem,

Whoah! Lovely cover. That pays the 1.5 ounce rate in effect from 2.3.91-7.9.95; rates were calcculated in 1/2 ounce steps. and, for Americans at least, to an exotic destination.

re: Information on rate needed for this cover please.

Thanks for the help David. Appreciate the quick confirmation of rate. I am still looking for solo proper use on cover for this $1 stamp - it may be paying double the 1/2 oz. rate when used as single on cover during the time period you mentioned. But till that time this is the best I can add to my 'above letter rate usage' collection of US issues.

triple weights are as elusive as single usages. yes, double 50c rate is only proper solo usage.

i think it's a fabulous cover, Saleem

Wasn't sure that triple weights were elusive till you mentioned it Happy
But my whole collection is build around solo usages so the search will continue.
