Thinking I've been sitting on my David Livingstone & Henry Stanley/East Africa collection (small) for a year now. Everything is here in my desk drawer, in glassines. I just haven't found the right album for this special collection yet. I'm kind'a looking for a "smaller" album book and pages, as apposed to the regular size albums, I've even been looking at regular "Photo Albums" Still haven't found what I'm looking for, not sure I ever will. Not even certain "what" I'm looking for, It's kind'a just one of those things... I'll know it when I see it.

I have several envelopes of perfins that have accumulated over the years. Picked up the perfin catalog at the APS show and am excited to get working on it. Also have a box of Canada to get started on someday. Sally

re: What have you not put into an "Album" Yet

My problem is that I buy stuff and then get busy with something else and then it sits and then I buy some more and then they sit, and so on and so on. About twice a month I try to force myself to make time to deal with it, but for some reason I find it easier to buy than to organize. I am not sure there is any hope for me.Laughing But, I do enjoy it!

What have I not put into an "album" yet: Stamps. Laughing

But, I sure as heck have taken thousands out of albums, cataloged them and put them in glassines. The larger ones, sheets etc., I'm forced to put into an album-like resting place, due to their size, but that doesn't count does it?

re: What have you not put into an "Album" Yet

I am probably not unlike many other collectors. When I get near completion of a set of some nature and cannot find that last little bit, I wander off to a new venture. My current venture is Christmas Seals. Not postage stamps per se, but widely used on envelopes to signify support for TB research. Million's are generated every year for the society from these stamps. Some variations are quite valuable. When starting a collection of these as like any others, you have to decide how wide your interest is going to be, just one of each or all of the variations. It has a big difference in you approach and how you want to organize them. Singles of each are pretty simple, beyond that becomes a challenge, if you can even determine what are all the variations and how deep you are willing to go.

re: What have you not put into an "Album" Yet

With three stamp collectors in the house there is always something to put away. My daughter and I usually every couple of weeks have a weekend that we work on our collections for hours at a time. Often until 1 or 2 in the morning. My mom and I work on things for an hour or so every few days. But in between putting things away we buy more, or come across packets of stamps that haven't been looked at for ages. We gather the packets and sort them into countries and topics and then work on one country at a time.
Between the three of us, we collect about 20 countries, and 25 or 30 topics. So there is always something to do.
Most of what isn't put away are actually either too new for our albums, or they are still on paper, and I haven't done anything about them yet. I'm the only one who does the soaking. When I get going I can do a few hundred a day, but I have to be motivated to get started which could mean weeks between soaking.
Right now we are concentrating on Japan, Australia, France and Great Britain. These are items I just got from the auction.

Family birth certificates. Like years of past, people added birth certificates or records of birth in the family bible. I have the letters of birth announcement of my children in the original envelopes in my books but not copies of their birth certificates. Not sure if I will or will not do that but it's a though I've contimplated about for some time. Perry

Everything. That is, everything I've acquired over the last several months. I need a new album or two, and I've been dithering over what to get. Much of my newer stuff is on stock pages, but a lot is still in glassines. I suspect that winter evenings will find me busy filling albums -- if I can slow down my acquisition binge.

Ray - I have the same binge problem. I am beginning to think the only way I am going to slow this down is cut off my fingers. But then I will probably get addicted to voice recognition and be right back at it, and I think I can talk faster than I can type, so that could be a bigger problem. No fingers to sort them out....Crying

re: What have you not put into an "Album" Yet

A couple of years ago, I decided to move my Denmark specialized collection from albums to high quality stock books because my needs for "what goes on any given page" is really a moving target, and albums are a pain when you want to rearrange.

Not only am I not finished with moving the collection, I have now developed a backlog of new items I've just been keeping in glassines until the appropriate stock book is ready for them... and that whole circus may take another five years to complete.
