I am a big collector of philatelic collectibles from places like Postal Commemorative Society and the now (practically defunct) Fleetwood. I collect because I enjoy the manufactured product...the stamps mounted usually around photos or artwork. I then like placing each new issue in a custom album. Its a dying concept it seems as PCS has shifted mainly to coins. I think even Readers Digets issued some stamp collectibles. And then there was Calhoun Collector's Society/Phillip Wing (long gone). Never been let down by Postal Commem Customer Service. Guess that why they have been around since 1970.

I am sure I am in a minority liking this stuff as most like the real stamp with no markup. However I can understand the profit margins required when a PCS Stamp Panel is $9.95. (no different that any other retail markup after the R&D costs.)

Dear cu,
Does your collecting also extend to signed waterfowl artist proofs as well? Not that I personally have any, just curious as to the scope of your collecting habits. Remember. although you wouldn't know this, I'm more of an accumulator than a true collector so my inquiry wouldn't really be of any significance to your collecting approach.

Actually, Dan, I used to collect signed waterfowl. In the beginning it was fun, but after a while my collection began to smell a little and, as the little feathery things decomposed, the ink of the signatures ran or faded. I finally had to discontinue this area of collecting when the Board of Health threatened condemnation. Big Grin

Michael, i am not a collector of those philatelic creations, although I have some found in other accumulations. I think there are still those who collect this, but, as you imply, their hay day is long past. Doesn't mean you can't enjoy it; there's really no one here who collects what I do, and it's never been a hindrance.
