More of a where do they fit rather than a want. How about Cinderellas. Would they be put in Topicals or Other Philately Related ...or?
Jacques.
BACK OF THE BOOK STUFF(Match & Medicine, Proofs, Essays, Revenues, Wines, E.F.O.'s, etc.) The list is quite long, and I'd love to see it all represented. Often it can be pricey, but mostly not so. If the seller wants action, try not to price it above 10-20% of the cat.val. Remember that the demand for these items doesn't match the demand for the front of the book stuff. On the other hand, those who venture into these areas are a most hardy group and they do tend to persevere to fill their wants.
Best,
Dan C.
Jacques: Good question, same thing has come up in the auction discussions. If it is an entire book with many Cinderella issues and more than one theme, I'd say Other Philately Related. If all the Cinderellas have the same theme, then Topicals would be my choice.
"How about Cinderellas. Would they be put in Topicals or Other Philately Related ...or?"
"Cinderellas, Labels, and Seals" was suggested as a category, but are the first two redundant?
depends, Peter. Label might refer to etiquettes, which serve a postal function, while Cinderellas don't, although they have been known to tickle the whimsy bone.

Not every seller will understand the precise distinctions.
Therefore, "Cinderellas, Labels, and Seals", even though it may be redundant, in my opinion, is the better category title.
A simple "Cinderellas" will likely lead to a whole bunch of questions as to whether airmail labels and Christmas seals qualify!

K.I.S.S.-- How about "Everything else Philatelic" all encompassing!!!!!
I agree with the Dude in Blue.

Please read my original post. I did not request possible categories for the Approvals books, but rather suggestions for areas for members to concentrate on when assembling books. If you want to discuss category titles, please start a new thread.

Bobby,
Why did you not make that post after the first two replies to your original question ??
It would have been sensible to have done so would it not ? It seemed to me like you were joining in with the 'curve' of the thread like Jlav and Dani20.

Minor deviations to respond to questions do not constitute egregious, off topic ramblings. My response to Jlav was succinct and to the point. I was not shifting focus as you did in your following post. As to Dan's post, it was squarely on target in that he was requesting members to post revenues.
Flags, maps, Kennedy

Crete would be nice... although I realise most of us won't have much of this to hand!
Otherwise Ottoman Turkey, Imperial Russia, Austro-Hungary, and older Bulgaria and Finland would be fun.
To further Nigel's request, as collector of the classic era (by my personal definition, 1840 -1940), I would love to see a book titled something like "Dead Countries of Europe." Since few of us would have enough material to make a book of one country, perhaps someone could combine several such countries into one book (e.g., Crete, Thrace, Eastern Rumelia, etc.)
There are a lot of areas which might lend themselves to such "combining."
List your ideas for members to consider in putting together approval books.
I would like to see anything pre-1940, but especially the following areas: Spanish colonies, British Commonwealth to 1960, other European colonial issues, Germany (incl BOB), Russia (soviet era to 1945), Liberia to 1945, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, San Marino and Andorra.
What are your wants?
