SMSF = Self Managed Superinvestment Fund
Its the self management and self pricing that bothers me about SG investments. It has the smell of a pyramid scam.
If you look at the latest quarterly US stamp market report from Linns (or any of the several last quarters), except for US air mails, stamp values are on the decline. US Air mails are showing a very small growth in values. Regarding British material, Scott has stated that more material has come onto the market in the last couple of years that has caused a softening in the valuation of British stamps. Catalog values in Scott for British material has declined in many areas. Issues from George VI have shown continued increases, however. Victoria material is down.
Great hope for the rest of us who have the odd penny red, Now if a person's eyesight was really good, we could see the plate no. in the scroll. Ha Ha.

I'd just read this story in "The Age", Melbourne's sister paper to the SYDNEY Morning Herald. Lovely pictures.
In the Australian context SMSF = Self-Managed Superannuation Fund.
What comes to mind is " ... Shanahan Auctions ..."
