Hmm. Still a roo on cover. I haven't found one for my collection yet. I just have a couple KGVs on cover from down under.
Calm down, Tim. I know your mouth must be drooling over that cover. If you drool too much, you might mess up your newly black hair!
Black Hair!? I saw Tim a week ago. I want to see a picture of the Auld man with black hair.
Any guesses as to what the first word in the paquebot cancel is? My first thought was "Jumbo" but that didn't make much sense.
Oh and Gilbraltar is spelled incorrectly on the postcard. *duck*
I have this one.
Another one.
Another with 2 on it.
I bid $10.
(just kidding).
These are really nice.
#28a should be sg#180 This cover has been folded to fit in the holder.
sg#4 1913 cover to Mass. USA
This is the last of the Kangaroo covers I have for now. I am always looking if anyone has some for sale
That Edgecliff cover looks a little philatelic in nature. For some reason the dial on that Brisbane machine cancel seems really appealing to me. My favorite so far is the Melbourne Airmail cover with all that nice franking.
Nice Stuff, Tim are you drooling?
Note the SHIP MAIL in CDS on Melbourne cvr

I am compiling a survey of SOR members and I need the following:
Your complete address
The room in your house where your stamps are stored
and the hours when no one is at home
Please reply via email ASAP!
Sincerely,
Bobby
Tooler,
Do not fall for that crap he is handing out. You MUST post the information here on SOR, just to give all of us a fair chance.
Bobby,
I'm a lot closer to GA than you are. HA!!!
Mike
CapeMan: I AM in Georgia! Muhhhhaaahhaaaa!
I also have a very nice GUN collection. I am retired and rarely am I away from home.
Pat,
You seriously had me drooling with the kangaroo on the paquet boat.
Tooler,
Thank you so much. These are beautiful covers. My good friend David gave me my first kangaroo on cover and I have been very partial to them ever since.
Best regards ... Tim
Tim
I have collected Pre-decimal Australian stamps for about 6 years. Anytime I can get hold of a cover with a pre-decimal stamp on it I try to acquire it. Of course cost plays into it.
I have a complete collection of singles accept for 7 Kangaroos and the cost really plays into me ever getting those, but I keep looking.
Glad you liked the covers.
Jack
Jack,
I think I'm looking for the same last 7 kangaroos. For the same reason. Are you into collecting all the difference die variances? I have several of them.
Regards ... Tim
Tim
Glad to see you collect the pre-decimal Australia. Like I said I have a complete collection from 1913 to 1965, singles, with the exception of those Kangaroos I mentioned.
Scott#'s 14,15,56,57,101,102,and 129. Had a chance to get a couple of them a few weeks ago, but I bought a gun instead.
Yes, I do have many varieties, dies and flaws of the kangaroo and kgv's. I am always looking for these.
I also collect: US, pre Queen Elizabeth Great Britain, Papua, British New Guinea early Germany and a lot of odds and ends. I guess what ever catches my fancy at the time.
I also have a collection of Presidential Inauguration Covers from Herbert Hoover to Barack Obama.
Have a good day
Jack
I have a question about the denomination of the Roo stamps on the covers Tooler put up here. I see some regular sized envelopes with 2 shilling stamps; isn't that much more than the first class rate for a letter, even to overseas? The last cover, for example, has TWO 2s stamps, for a commercial letter to the USA from Melbourne. Why so much?
Peter
Peter,
I think the extra cost would have been because the cover was being sent by Air Mail rather than Sea Mail. Also, the cost was determined by the weight of the package and we don't know how much they had stuffed into the envelope.
The cover I find interesting is the one where it has an Air Mail sticker on it but it has been cancelled as Sea Mail and the two 2 shilling stamps would indicate that it had be charged as Air Mail.
Regards ... Tim.

Yes Roy, that is is the one that I found particularly interesting. I'm guessing that they were traveling from somewhere in New Zealand to Melbourne, Vic, and posted the cover before they reached port. Isn't it interesting that they could just address the envelope as " Reid Bros., Beverly Mass", and expect it to find them. From the other side of the world no less.
Regards ... Tim
Just got this one today. Postcard with Sc#47 sg#37, postmarked Maryborough, Queensland Aus. 13 June, 1919. Got it for $5.00
That's a nice small-town repeating machine cancel if I am right. Machine cancels were all the rage in the first 20 years of the 20th century in the US. Wish I knew more about their use in Australia.
Trying to upload two more Kangaroo stamps on cover I got the other day. For some reason I can't get them to upload today. Will work on it and try later.
These came today.
(I also posted this cover on a different Stamporama thread) The ½d kangaroos (wallaroo) on cover shown are a block of four of the scarce 1938 first issue of the 13½ x 14 perforation (the first Australian stamp issued for the new British Monarch, King George VI). It has a double cancellation from the Mildura Post Office in Victoria.
I am directing my attention to 'roos on cover from 1913 - 1949.

This cover has a 1sh Kangaroo small multi W/M. It also has the 1932 9d Bi-Colour Lakatoi that I have been told is very RARE on any cover of any kind.
Being registered in both COBAR NSW, and PORT Moresby, IT IS FESTOONED WITH BACKS-STAMPS.
A very nice addition to my PNG collection.
My latest cover is sg#4 1913 die II indigo.
A couple years ago my friend Tim asked me if I had a kangaroo on cover. I told him that I knew I had one someplace. It took a while to find it. Turns out it is on a postcard. It isn't real pretty, but it is #2 from 1915,Paquetboat cancel.
Enjoy.
