This is the cover that triggered my investigation. It has a contemporary Christmas seal that, unfortunately, was not tied to the envelope. Had it been, because it was identified in the description, I would likely have had a fight on my hands for this. As is, it's not much interest to seal collectors, but is a good example of a double rate air mail to Europe, which was 15c per half ounce from November 1, 1946 to July 1, 1961.

Note the mute ovals that cancel those stamps that the machine missed. Note also the two different airmail stamps. That's odd. One might have expected either another pair of 5c transports or a strip of three of the newly issued UPU airmail. Image Not Found
