I purchased a Fujitsu "Scansnap" desktop scanner about 3 years ago. It does everything you specified. I purchased it primarily for business purposes, but it does a bang up job on stamps also. When using Vario pages, you have to make sure no part of a stamp protrudes above the plastic flap (else the rollers will remove it from the page and jam the scanner). I have used up to 67lb card stock without a problem. I especially like it for scanning postcards as it copies both sides simultaneously and will handle about 20 cards at a time (takes less than a minute to scan 20 cards). The model I purchased has been superseded by Model iX500 ($429 through Amazon). CLICK HERE. I swear by mine, but, of course, if you buy one on my recommendation it will undoubtedly break down the first time you use it.
Most office supply stores stock it.
Thanks, Bobby. I will check this model out.
I would like to buy a new scanner but have not been able to find a model that fits all my requirements. Most importantly, the machine must have an auto-feed mechanism that allows to stack and feed several pages at a time and should allow for simultaneous scanning of front and back. The machine must also accept pages of variable thickness; regular paper, but also Vario type stock pages for instance.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Arno
