In another thread, I said that the discussion had encouraged me to publish one of my philatelic exhibits on line, which I have now done. The exhibit, for which I won my first gold medal (Yay!), at VANPEX 2013, is titled Compassion in Times of War: The evolution of military medicine. Here's a "thumbnail" image of the first page:

I would appreciate any feedback, including suggestions for improvement. My gold medal lost some of its shine when one of the judges kindly "pointed out" to me that the exhibit would never have won gold at a national level exhibit (VANPEX is now a regional exhibition). I was criticized for including a scanned image of the Nazi Red Cross symbol that's on the back of one of the postcards (according to the judge, it had no relevance in the context of the exhibit), and for the Red Cross logo at the top of each page. I respectfully disagreed with the judge, but then I have never built my exhibits to please anyone but me (although I hope that you are pleased with what you see). I have enough material to easily add another frame (16 sheets), but I'm working on about a dozen other projects, so that won't happen right away.

Bob,
Congratulations on the Gold for a very nicely presented exhibit. I think the judge should have just kept his mouth shut, since his comments were not needed, or had any bearing on your presentation. He was probably jealous of your exhibit in the first place. Hooray for you, raspberries to him.

Well done cover page. Any chance we could see the whole exhibit on the exhibits page? Thumbs Up

I'll discuss it with Tim, Smauggie. In the meantime, I just noticed that page 2 is not showing the whole page. I'll fix that asap.

Bob, I only intended to check out a couple of pages, but next thing I knew I had read all 16! That is outstanding work!

Hi Bob,
as I said before I'm too in medicine thematic field having till now completed 6 collections.
I have done a lot of partecipation in federal competition here in Italy.
Your complaints about judge are mine too, expecially here in Italy where the rules are more restricted than in USA. But as you say we collect first for our pleasure and friends and that's all.

Compliments for your exibition. I hope to see your collection in full lenght.

I think you can deal with the judge's comments by including a small blurb on the importance of the symbol of the red cross (as an element of military medicine). You touch on it a bit in frame 7, but perhaps it merits a bit more attention. Then nobody can say images of the red cross (in its various forms) are impertinent.

That's a good suggestion about more of an explanation about the Red Cross symbol. Thanks, Smauggie.
