This is the first day cancel of Nimitz, WV which was named after Chester W Nimitz, Commander in Chief Pacific Ocean Areas in WWII. This is one of the many cool items in my grandfather's collection. Anyone else have something like this? I'll share more of these in the future. There's a whole album of these.

Below is the letter I also found in his collection, and I believe it's the real thing. I've had a few of the other autographs authenticated and they came back as the genuine article. I just think it's cool, especially since the war had been over scarcely two weeks.
