Sounds to me like the RR was selling off some of its owned real estate which it had no further use for. Railroads were often granted huge parcels of public land which they could use as right of ways or sell to finance construction of lines. Kind of a government subsidy.
This is an interesting card. It seems that Mr S S Doying had applied for a land contract of two lots in Albany MN. This card seems to have been the final step in the process where Mr Doying just had to sign and date the card and post it back to the Railway Co. The thing that I find interesting is the fact that it is the Railway Co that is issuing the land contract. Does anyone have any more information on how this all worked back then?
