I am feverishly putting stamps in APS sales books. Nothing like going through the stamps all ready to get put in the books, and then deciding to keep some of them instead! Hard to part with some things. At Wits End

Hi Michael;

You need to start a new 12-step group called stamp-a-holics. Then you can help the rest
of us with our withdrawal and recovery, process.

I don't have a problem. It's everyone else who has a problem.

I can control my last minute bidding.

I can quit my MNH any time I want, I'm just not ready.

One more QV stamp isn't going to hurt.

....

Time to start collecting stamps of denial.

Well, when that happens, be sure not to strike it, because it'll burn you up.

David, I knew from the first time I met Peter on Stamporama that he had the potential to be an even bigger pain in the tookus than you! Laughing

I collect everything. I am not addicted to that and can limit my collecting interests anytime. In fact, I have limited myself 20 or 30 times so far. I don't need to go into rehab. Has anyone ever considered collecting topicals related to rehab.

Now that would be the ultimate to have to go into rehab because of rehab. How can one rehab from rehab? Is there any hope left?

Limiting - gosh that is TOUGH! OK so I tell myself I'm going to specialize in Ireland. Ok great. But I can't stop collecting Japan! I just love that Japanese kiloware. And OMG I love those Danish ad pairs and early Scandinavia and Slania engravings, and what about all the gorgeous Austria engraved commems? Oh and don't forget the cool early Bermuda! And what about Hawaii? And all the Venezuela from when you were down there? OMG - it is like trying to choose between your kids. Sooooooo I say what is your LEAST favorite and start pruning there. Whew, OK, I CAN part with my mint USA to start. And so it goes!

Now if I can just keep from finding a bunch of cool NEW areas to collect I'm might be getting this collection thing under control and small enough to fit into my stamp den after all.

re: You Know You Have It Bad...

I'm always going to collect SOMETHING, but when I decided to end my US collection I found more time (and money) available to work on a topical. I find myself spending a lot more time reading and learning and less time saving up for the next outrageously expensive item. Much more enjoyable - and educational to boot!
