Perhaps the making of stars and our solar system. Or specifically, what will become of our sun when it eventually turns the lights out? First it becomes a red giant then perhaps a white dwarf.... and then all the other phenomena such as neutron stars, pulsars, supernovae, nebulae and black holes.
This is a fascinating branch of science but has left me somewhat confused, mainly because of the different 'big bang' theories.
There remains the question, 'is there sufficient material around to illustrate any/all of this'?
There are many stamps out there of stars, galaxies, planets, etc. A nice topical.
Phil, There is no shortage of stamps with the space theme out there. Unfortunately most are from countries who barely exist except to print stamps or former Iron Curtain countries. Most of these have little appeal to me. A bigger challenge might be collecting "Classic Space" stamps before 1950. A few that come to mind is this set from Mexico made for regular and Air mail use, in the middle of these two pages:

Also this Southern Cross set from Brazil:

For anyone who does not collect it, Belgian Congo would probably be my first recommendation.
It is rather small and manageable with arguably the most beautiful stamps. If you like Costa Rica I'm sure you would like it.

This is a topic i really know little about..but i am thinking of putting something together about our solar system and the universe at large..i am not including astronauts or space travel. Any advice appreciated ! If possible i would like to go with EITHER covers or stamps..at present i have so little material on the topic that i am not sure which way to go ~
